about
Kerryn Fields has announced her second album ‘Water’ with the release of new single ‘Atlantis’.
The opening track to the album ‘Atlantis’ opens with ‘Fields expansive vocals, inspired by Neil Young’s ‘Pocahontas’ - ‘I’d die, for the way you love that song’
Her emotional delivery has it soaring and landing somewhere deep in visceral territory”
– Radio13 NZ
Fields’s performances on ‘Water’ were recorded live with Ben Franz (upright bass, pedal steel guitar), Joshua Barber (percussion, drums) and Fraser Montgomery who produced the record with ‘Fields overlooking the Great Ocean Road in Victoria.
“We moved into a house we’d never seen before and it was exactly right for this record, even the full moon nodding through the window was like something out of a dream.”
Fields’ trademark warmth of character - evident in both life and music - fuels a creative offering that’s equal parts captivating, refined and heartrendingly insightful.
Newstead Live Music Festival’s Troubadour Artist of the Year (2019), winner of the MLT Songwriting Award (NZ Country Music Awards 2019) and New Zealand’s Best New Broadcaster (at age 19), Kerryn Fields has released a range of celebrated records including debut LP, Rascal (2015) and award-winning, critically acclaimed single, Mamma (2019).
The album ‘Water’ is out 3rd March 2021 and will be available for pre-order on Bandcamp from December 3rd 2020.
lyrics
Loving you is a dance to a tune
In the kitchen with the nook of your back
Breathing up against my hand
If you want Atlantis
I'd dive in the ocean
And you can bet I'd find it there
I know where I'm going, yeah
Let the light above be
Aurora Borealis Baby
Pocahontas
I'd die for the way you love that song
I wanna kiss my woman
First thing in the morning, just like you
Don't overthink yourself baby
I'm not asking for, any more than you
If you want Atlantis
I'd dive in the ocean
And you can bet I'd find it there
I know where I'm going, yeah
Let the light above be
Aurora Borealis Baby
Pocahontas
I'd die for the way you love that song
You are incredible woman
Baby Neil Young would be begging to write you
If he could
If you want Atlantis
I'd dive in the ocean
And you can bet I'd find it there
I know where I'm going, yeah
Let the light above be
Aurora Borealis Baby
Pocahontas
I'd die for the way you love that song
Loving you is a dance to the moon
In the backyard in the nape of your neck
Breathing up against your skin
